Probably the first Contao 4 project ever done

When we were mandated to conceptualize and develop Travelnews.ch by agentur mehrwert in 2015, Contao 4.0 was still in early development. Since then, neither Contao nor Travelnews have stood still; it is constantly being developed and adapted to current needs.

The system is based on a dedicated news module, which is specifically designed to meet the requirements. Thanks to a clear structure in the well-known simple Contao back end, information can be managed efficiently. Several full-time editors write new articles daily, which generate over 1.5 million page views per month.

We started working on Travelnews with a pre-release of Contao 4.0 and thus consciously rely on the Symfony PHP framework and Composer. Third-party systems like the external search engine Algolia or "most read news" via the Matomo API provide important functionality. Posts from social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok) provide content, in return selective news are distributed via RSS feed e.g. to info displays in public transport.
